Running on empty

So tired these past few weeks! I have been running but some days are good and others not so much. I just keep plugging away. I have been swimming as cross-training and I love it. My whole body feels light and airy underwater and then I feel like jello when I finish. What a great work-out! I can almost register for the sprint triathlon that will be in July. Registration opens March 31st! I have a few friends who will be doing it too so I'm psyched. I just want to do better than I did last year and beat my own time.

Girl Power

So I went with the girl power themed playlist yesterday for the 50 minute run. Almost busted out the dance moves on the treadmill but maintained some control.......run started rough but I got into the groove and felt great.
Girl Power Playlist included:
Dog Days Are Over - Florence and the machine (also new fave)
Only Girl - Rihannna
Various songs by Pink dating back to the 1st album
Hey mama = BEP
Waking Up in Vegas - Katy Perry
mercy - Duffy
I Run for Life - melissa Etheridge
Forget You - Glee version

I will have to do some sort of boy theme next time just to be fair:)

THE PLAN

So this is my running plan as of now:

run 45-60 minutes three times a week and then cross train 2 other days. I have read so many different things about running and exercise I tend to confuse them together. What I focus on is Chi-running techniques using walking breaks that allow you to run longer and eventually faster (prevent burn-out). It seems to work for me though I wish I could take a chi-running class to really get the concepts down....oh well I guess I will have to get matt to get certified and then teach me:)
The problem I have is that I love so many different things that it is hard to choose what to do as cross-training. I like to change it up all the time so I don't get bored......any good ideas are always welcome....

Ski Queen

It has been years since I skiied but today I did it! It was like riding a bike and all rushed back....I felt strong and powerful racing (figuratively speaking) down the hill. The views were breathtaking and the sun was shining. It could not have been a better day! I may be sore tomorrow but it was worth it....sore or not I have to run tomorrow. I'm looking to go for 45 minutes. I realized that even when winter is annoying and cold it is still a time of year I couldn't live without. So go, play outside!!!

snow....

So it has snowed for days and I have not only not been able to run outside but not been able to go to the run inside either (not here anyway)....soon it will be spring and the real training can begin. For now I stay cuddled inside having dance parties and doing wii fit.....enjoy the weather!

It all starts here...I guess

I have decided that I want to run the Boston marathon in April of 2012. Seeing as I would never consider myself a runner, I have a long way to go. Currently, I run 3-4 miles about 3 times a week. Not bad but this is far from the 26 I will need to complete......This blog is going to be a testament to myself that a "not really a runner" can accomplish the impossible (at least in my world). I will update often on my running progress and anything else I feel is interesting or blog-worthy.....wish me luck!
